Kasher Feeding by Hospital for Area College Students for Passover Period Only

Rabbi Bernard Poupko of Pittsburgh, President of the Religious Zionists of America said that arrangements be had previously reported on kosher feeding arrangements at Pittsburgh’s Montefiore Hospital for area college students had been made only for the forthcoming Passover period. Rabbi Poupko said in his initial statement that the hospital was setting up a cafeteria-style dining facility to serve kosher meals seven days a week to Jewish students attending the area’s seven universities. He said he had approached hospital officials on the matter in his capacity as chairman of the Rabbinical Board of Greater Pittsburgh. In his statement of clarification, he said that he had reported the arrangement on the basis of what he understood had been worked out between him and hospital officials but that when he learned that the report had been questioned, he had checked the matter out with hospital officials. He learned, he added, that there had been a misunderstanding on the part of a hospital executive who had understood that the agreement covered only the Passover holiday and proceeded with the limited arrangements.
