The Berlin Jewish community observed the centenary of the Jewish cemetery in the Schoenhauser Allee.
Among those who rest in the cemetery are the famous political leaders Eduard Lasker and Ludwig Bamberger, Dr. Hugo Preuss, the author of the German Constitution, the famous composer, Meyerbeer, Professor Julius Lessing, the first director of the Berlin Museum of Applied Art, and Professor Ludwig Traube, the famous physician who was the first Jew to be appointed professor at a German University. There are over 220,000 buried in the cemetery.
