From the beginning of its activities in April, 1921 until June, 1927, the Keren Hayesod has spent in Palestine for the upbuilding of the country £2,989,723. Of this sum the largest part, £947,866 was spent on Agricultural Colonization; £621,285 on Urban Colonization, Trade and Industry Investments and Public Works; £542,651 on Education; £326,448 on Immigration; £235,142 on the Health Service; £179,351 on Religious and Communal Institutions and £136,979 on Zionist Administration in Palestine.
The Head Office of the Keren Hayesod received during October 1927 a sum of £29,280. The major portion of this amount was sent by South Africa which transmitted £13,000. Of this amount £3,000 represents the regular remittances, and the remaining £10,000 is a special remittance to alleviate the present situation, and will be deducted from next month’s remittances. The United States remitted during the current month £10,435, or half of the regular sum. Germany sent £1,509, Poland, £902, Erez Israel £648, Bessarabia £600, Australia £458, Strasbourg £201, and New Zealand £200.
There were no remittances from England and South America.
The Keren Hayesod collected during the past financial year (October 1926 September 1927) the sum of £583,616. This is the largest amount raised by it in any single year. Last year’s income was £520,318 so that an advance of 12 percent, has been achieved, notwithstanding that the receipts in the summer fell short of the standard reached in the earlier months.
