The Keren Hayesod reported today that its world-wide fund raising efforts have taken an upswing for the first time since the Yom Kippur War. Avraham Avi-Hai, chairman of the agency, told reporters that it raised $110.2 million in the fiscal year which ended last March 31 compared to $100.6 million in the previous fiscal year.
The Keren Hayesod-United Israel Appeal operates in countries throughout the world except the United States, which is covered by the United Jewish Appeal. Avi-Hai said the latest results represent a turn for the better and portend continued improvement in the years ahead.
