Soviet Premier Khrushchev was challenged today to repudiate the contents and further dissemination of the anti-Semitic book “Judaism Without Embellishment” published in Kiev, depicting Jews in words, cartoons and caricatures reminiscent of Nazi propaganda.
The challenge was made in a wire to Soviet Ambassador Anatoly F. Dobrynin from Jacob T. Zukerman, president of the Workmen’s Circle, the 65-year-old labor fraternal order with a membership of some 70,000 families in the United States and Canada.
“Does Premier Khrushchev underwrite the contents of this anit-Semitic propaganda and will he continue to authorize its continued disseminations?” Mr. Zukerman queried the Soviet Ambassador. “Will it be withdrawn from circulation and from all Soviet propaganda outlets?” he asked.
