West German Chancellor Kurt Georg Kiesinger said in an interview today that he was prepared to support Israel’s interests but hoped that the Arab States would resume diplomatic relations with Bonn in the not too distant future. Ambassador Asher Ben Nathan of Israel wrote in an article published in the Hamburg newspaper “Die Welt” today that the people of Israel were watching with deep concern the rise of neo-Nazi elements in West Germany. However, he expressed satisfaction with the way official German-Israel relations had developed in the three years since both countries agreed to exchange ambassadors. Diplomatic relations have made possible a continuing dialogue between the two countries, he said, but he added that this does not mean there is complete agreement on all matters at all times.
