King George Expresses Appreciation to British Jews for Birthday Message

King George today expressed his thanks to Chief Rabbi Hertz for the birthday message sent yesterday in behalf of the Jewish communities in England and the Empire. “In times such as these,” the King’s message read, “I particularly appreciate your loyal assurances.”

Rabbi Irving Miller, representative of the World Jewish Congress, who has been in London for several weeks, declared today that he is convinced that the British people desire to ameliorate the suffering of the European Jews and will make a permanent contribution to the solution of the Jewish problem when the war is over. Rabbi Miller issued this statement before leaving on his return trip to the United States.
