A husband and wife, out for an evening stroll last night, were injured when a Katyusha rocket attack hit Kiryat Shemona for the second time yesterday. The couple, Sonego and Daliah Rimon, were released from the hospital today, but Shlomo Gabriel, a father of seven, who was injured in yesterday morning’s attack, was still hospitalized.
Last night’s attack hit not only Kiryat Shemona where several houses were damaged but also Kibbutz Yashuv, east of the Galilee settlement Israeli artillery fired back at the source of the rocket attacks in southern Lebanon. The Katyusha attacks followed earlier raids yesterday by Israel into Lebanon aimed at terrorist bases near Tyre.
Despite the attack, Kiryat Shemona sought to maintain a semblance of normalcy today. An infant, Itzhak Senansy, was circumcised today in his parents’ apartment which had been damaged by rockets. The traditional ceremony, with a house full of guests, was carried out among the glass splinters and plaster pieces that were scattered on the floor. Some guests noted that this was the only way of showing that the residents of Kiryat Shemona are determined to continue living in the town despite the attacks.
Meanwhile, immediately after both attacks, employes of the electric and water companies began repairing the damages.
