The Knesset yesterday adopted a bill to compensate Arab residents of East Jerusalem for property they owned in Israel before 1948. Under the plan, eligible Arabs will draw their first ten thousand pounds in 1975.
The remaining compensation will be paid in the form of state bonds linked to the cost of living index and paying five and one half percent interest over 15 years.
The New Communist Party voted against the bill calling it a device to sanction sequestration of Arab properties which should never have been taken away.
