The appearance of Ambassador Abba Eban either as a guest or as a speaker at a meeting of any Jewish group may never be interpreted as identification with the political aims of these organizations, Foreign Minister Golda Meir declared in Parliament today.
Her remarks were in reply to a query by Simha Babbe, General Zionist deputy, who questioned Mr. Eban’s appearance before the founding session of the American Jewish League for Israel.
Mrs. Meir further noted that since it was well known that Ambassador Eban accepted goodwill invitations to appear at Jewish functions, his refusal to accepted this invitation could have been interpreted as extraordinary–even Intervention in Jewish inter-organizational affairs.
