Knesset member Rehavam Ze’evi of the right-wing Moledet Party has renewed his vow to shoot any Palestinian police officer who stops him on any of the West Bank roads jointly patrolled by Israeli and Palestinian police.
Speaking during a tour this week by opposition parliamentarians to Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus, Ze’evi reportedly said that any Palestinian police officer who asks for his identity card would “get a bullet” in response.
The Knesset members, who visited the site with an army escort, issued a request that access be restored to a yeshiva located at the site of Joseph’s Tomb.
An Israel Defense Force commander said that Nablus, which has been closed to Israelis since the IDF completed its redeployment there on Dec. 11, would be reopened by the end of the month.
Until then, all teachers and students at the Old Yosef Chai Yeshiva were barred entry to be seminary by the army.
In the wake of the redeployment from Nablus, a group of the yeshiva’s students demonstrated violently when they were prevented from reaching the site.
