Mayor Teddy Kollek has publicly refused an invitation from the Apostolic delegate in Jerusalem to attend a service marking the fourth anniversary of the inauguration of Pope John Paul II. In a message to the delegate, Msgr. William Carew, Kollek said he must decline in view of “the astounding fact” that the Pope granted an audience last month to PLO chief Yasir Arafat.
