Mayor Teddy Kollek of Jerusalem remarked last night that “one was amused” at the “most hypocritical” tributes “in many quarters” following the death of Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser. “After all.” he told members of the British ORT at its 90th anniversary dinner, “the late President Nasser has caused the death of more Arabs than any other ruler before him.” Mr. Kollek also declared that “Jerusalem should be, must be and will be a united city for ever more.” He noted that “there are many desirable things which cannot be achieved in a short time, but we are making progress continually.” He added, in that connection, that an ecumenical university will be opening next year in Jerusalem. It will be a junior college, established by ORT and located on the grounds of the Hebrew University, that will train engineers on the technological level. Gabriel Sacher. chairman of British ORT, reported that ORT was currently training 55,000 persons, almost all of them youngsters, at 657 ORT schools and centers in 24 countries. He said the equivalent of $192,000 had been raised from last night’s dinner.
