Awakened by the imperative need for enforcing the boycott against Nazi goods, a revived Rhode Island Council of the American Jewish Congress yesterday took over the boycott movement here jointly with the state branch of the American Federation of Labor.

Every Jewish organization in Rhode Island-more than 60 of them were represented in the reorganization meeting-pledged 100 percent cooperation with the boycott movement.

The new council elected officers and an executive committee, including representatives of every Jewish group, and announced plans to hold a joint mass meeting June 10 in Elks Auditorium with the American Federation of Labor. In addition to a Jewish leader, President William Green of the A. F. of L. has been asked to come in person or designate one of his chief aides as labor’s spokesman.

Officers named include: Dr. Ilie Berger, president; Joshua Bell, first vice-president; Mrs. Harry Beck, second vice-president; Dr. Carl Jagolinzer, third vice-president; Mrs. Ben M. Poulten, secretary, and James Goldman, treasurer. The advisory committee consists of Alter Boyman, chairman; Harry Rosen, Senator Paul Robin, Rabbi Israel M. Goldman, Samuel Wolk, Louis Strashnick, Morris Beeber, Mrs. Esther Pritsker, Mrs. Morris Sheer, Mrs. Max Cohen and Mrs. Leo Weiner.
