A request that the British Government supply Israel with defensive arms was believed made to Foreign Secretary Selwyn Lloyd by a British Labor Party delegation which conferred with him last night.
The delegation objected to Britain’s having backed down before the Arabs in the matter of the Security Council resolution instructing UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold to continue his good offices with the Arabs and Israelis, and discussed the consequences of the resignation of Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett. It also covered Anglo-Jordan relations and big power consultations on the Middle East.
