Because the meeting called to organize the Palestine Jewish Labor Party by a union of the two older parties used a red flag as part of its decoration, the committee administering the Ohel Shem Community Centre erected with funds contributed by S. Bloom, a Philadelphia Zionist, declined to permit the meeting to use this most desirable hall in Tel Aviv, reports the “Davar,” labor daily, describing the hardships of thousands of delegates and visitors who were obliged to meet in the only partially roofed Peoples’ House. The committee, headed by Chaim Bialik, declared that the hall was only available to Judaistic, cultural and artistic groups but “Davar” asserts that businessmen meet there often.
