Former Prime Minister Harold Wilson has expressed strong opposition to the opening of a Palestinian Liberation Office here. In a letter to Sidney Goldberg, general secretary of the British Poale Zion, the opposition leader said, “there is no doubt that the Labor Party is very much opposed to the setting up of this office in London.” He said that a number of Labor MPs have questioned the controversial move, among them Clinton Davies, who requested a vote on the issue. If Davies’ request is granted the question of the PLO office will be aired in the House of Commons.

Concurrently, Mrs. June Jacobs, chairman of the Association of Jewish Women’s Organizations in the ‘United Kingdom, wrote to Home Secretary Reginald Maudling protesting the opening of the terrorist group office. Voicing her opinion on behalf of the association’s 80,000 members, Mrs. Jacobs said: “While appreciating that there is no legal reason why this office should not be opened, I do ask for your assurance its existence could in no way constitute a danger here or abroad.”
