Steps to prevent work on Saturday in the garment industry, to enforce the five day week, were undertaken by the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union Chairmen representing 190 garment shops met at the John Board headquarters to decide steps to be taken to “police” the industry.

## of the Joint Board said:

“We are going to visit every garment shop in the city and see that there is no Saturday work. If the robbers violate the terms of their agreement we can call out the workers. We will make them pay for every single bit of extra work they demand for every hour of Saturday work we will close them for twenty-four hours until they learn that it does not pay to go against the union”
