A resolution calling upon democratic peoples everywhere to help the Jews establish a Jewish commonwealth in Palestine was adopted here yesterday at the conclusion of a two-day convention of the Labor Zionist and Progressive Bloc to the 22nd Zionist Congress, which was attended by 1,200 delegates.
Speakers at the conference advocated the opening of the gates of Palestine to Jewish immigration, and the meeting went on record as opposing “the vicious decrees which a reactionary British Government seeks to impose” on Palestine. Messages of support were received from William Green, president of the A.F.L., and Philip Murray, head of the C.I.O.
Don Pines, Histadruth delegate from Palestine, was named executive director of the “shekel” selling campaign. Election of delegates to the coming World Zionist Congress will take place in June.
