The faculty of Lafayette College has voted to discontinue official recognition of local fraternities whose national charters force them to discriminate in acceptance of members, it was announced today.
The faculty pledged to support any Lafayette fraternity which becomes involved in a dispute with its national association over the college’s requirement that it drop bars on membership based on race, religion or color. Some local fraternities have already adopted such changes, but others have been unable to make changes without breaking with their national associations.
