Passover, which begins at sundown on Monday, April 19, will be observed this year by more members of the armed forces of the United States than ever before in the history of the country, it was announced yesterday by the Jewish Welfare Board.
Plans and supplies for the observance have been furnished by the board in cooperation with commanding officers and chaplains, including Christian as well as Jewish, the board’s workers, and civilian rabbis in hundreds of communities in the United States and overseas.
“The Jewish Welfare Board is making plans so every Jewish man and woman in the service who wishes to can observe the Passover at special services in camp, in communities either through group seders or in private homes, in the field – in fact, wherever they are stationed,” said Frank L. Weil, its president.
