President Carter Thursday accepted “with regret” the resignation of Mark A. Siegel, who has served as the Administration’s liaison with the American Jewish community. He said at a press conference later that the Administration’s Middle East policy “is the proper one.” In reply to questions, he said that Siegel, who resigned over differences with the Administration’s Middle East policy, had “a strong input” on Middle East policy-making but that his departure from the White House staff will in no way alter U.S. policy.
