Nitzan Mendelson, shot a week ago by the hijackers of Egyptair Flight 648, died today at a hospital in Valleta, Malta, from a bullet wound in the head. Mendelson, a member of Kibbutz Hulata in Galilee, never regained consciousness after she was shot. She had been pronounced clinically dead at the hospital where she was kept breathing by machine. Her death brought to 60 the number of fatalities resulting from the hijack.
