The Eighth Hussars, a regiment of mechanized cavalry, arrived here today from Egypt.

Searches for arms continued throughout the country. Large quantities of arms and munitions have been discovered in the possession of Arabs.

Two Arabs were arrested in connection with an attack on Government forces at Motza yesterday.

Police began using motor launches today to prevent striking Jaffa boatmen from interfering with activities at the temporary harbor at the neighboring all-Jewish city of Tel Aviv.

A bus convoy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem this morning ran a gauntlet of Arabs’ rifle fire 23 miles from Jerusalem. A bus convoy on the way to Tel Aviv was also fired on.

The Hebrew daily, Dear Hayom, said today 54 Arabs were killed and 98 wounded in battles with Government forces at Nablus, Tulkarem and Lubban last week.

Fruit-bearing trees numbering 1,600 were destroyed last night at the Ness Jonah groves. At Beth Schlomo, 7,250 vines were uprooted.

Ingress to the Lydda railway station was prohibited without special permits.

The Hadarga settlement near Petach Tikvah was attacked last night by Arabs Police using machine-guns beat off the attackers.
