As previously reported preparations are being made here, on the initiative of the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Mgr Barsalina, for the establishment of a small university under the auspices of the Latin Patriarchate. It will be opened on October 1, and has enrolled the first full quote of 200 students.
The prospectus has already been issued, showing three general courses to prepare students for later specialization in order to take one or more of the four degrees, (Languages, Medicine, Law, and Architecture). Instruction will be in Arabic and English only.
The Palestine Patriarchal University, says the prospectus, has been founded with no political purpose, but with the sole intention of giving the youth of Palestine a sound education. Its doors are open to followers of any creed or faith, and the Rector of the University is to be an Arab by birth and by language.
Special stress is laid on the intention that all instruction should tend towards turning out men of practical knowledge and education, fitted to contribute worthily and substantially to the rebuilding of the ancient prosperity of the country.
