Baltic Germans were greatly perturbed today at the action by the Latvian Government in taking control of German archives that have been stored here. The fear was expressed that it will in the future be impossible for them to prove their German origin.
The Latvian Government issued an official statement in which it declared that it does not intend “to make Baltic Germans into Jews,” and will put no difficulties in the way of proving their “Aryan” origin.
