The establishment of a Department of Education in the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the selection of Dr. Alexander M. Dushkin to aid in the organization of the department are hailed editorially by the periodical Jewish Education, devoted to the interests of Jewish education in this country, in its current issue.
Dr. Dushkin, formerly executive director of the board of Jewish Education of Chicago, also was editor-in-chief of the magazine. He will be associate professor in educational method and administration in the Hebrew University.
“The educational system in Palestine,” the editorial states, “is an outstanding achievement in the rebuilding of the Jewish homeland. A network of good modern schools has been established.
“The establishment of a Department of Education at the University in Jerusalem will provide for the necessary professional training in the principles and history of education….The National Council for Jewish Education rejoices in that one of its members has been invited to assume a major responsibility in this pioneering educational enterprise.”
