Launching one of the most important and far-flung enterprises in its history, District Grand Lodge No. 4 of the B’nai B’rith, embracing all of the western states, has perfected the organization of an anti-defamation bureau which will function throughout the entire jurisdiction in combating Hitler propaganda and anti-Semitic influences generally.
Final plans for the bureau have been approved by the General Committee of the district and work will start at once.
According to Edward A. Zeisler, executive director of the District Grand Lodge, now placed in charge of this bureau, the work of this new body will be along lines more intensive than anything of the kind ever undertaken by the grand lodge before. The bureau will work in conjunction with the national offices of the Anti-Defamation League but will seek to aim felling blows at all anti-Semitic influences in the West.
The bureau will function throughout the territory embraced by District Grand Lodge No. 4–California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Arizona and Nevada.
It will be the purpose of the new body to train speakers throughout the territory to address not only Jewish groups but non-Jewish bodies as well on subjects relating to anti-Semitic activities; to send these speakers in the field not only striking at Hitler propaganda by nailing lies but exposing the true cause of the Jew as well.
A reference library will be set up at once, and an unlimited fund of literature and printed material will be ready at all times for the use of those assisting in such work.
