Lazar Braudo, one of the founders of the Zionist movement in South Africa, and president of the South African Zionist Federation for many years, died at his home in Tel Benyamin, aged 76.
Mr. Braudo lived in Tel Benyamin since 1933, when he moved his home to Palestime. Born in Lithuania, he emigrated in youth to South Africa where he became a successful businessman. In addition to Zionist activities, he was also chairman of the Board of Directors of Africa Palestine Investments, Ltd. Before Israel’s liberation, from 1933 to 1947, he was chairman of the board of directors of the Anglo-Palestine Bank.
