A challenge to all religious faiths to pool their intelligence and energy together for the preservation of American democracy was issued by Rabbi Morris Lazaron in an address here last night at the opening of the thirteenth annual state conference of the National Council of Jewish Women at the Temple Society of Concord. United, he declared, these faiths can help make America safe for their divergent views and beliefs.
Much of Rabbi Lazaron’s talk was devoted to an account of his experiences on the recent cross-country good will tour, which he said was productive of good results.
Mrs. Judah Bresner, State head, presided at the meeting. The welcome to representatives attending was extended by Mrs. George Greenberg, president of the local section. Mrs. Jules Hart, Yonkers national representative, responded. Rabbi Benjamin Friedman, of Concord, gave the invocation; Cantor Samuel Arluck sang and Rabbi Jesse Beinenfeld of the Temple Adath Yeshuran delivered the benediction.
This morning Lisle Burroughs, State field representative of the Temporary Emergency Relief Administration, spoke at the Onondaga Hotel on “The Place and Opportunity of the Section in its Local Community.”
