Messages from the Semitics departments of Harvard University, Hebrew Union College, Dropsie College and from the rector of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem were read here today at the reception tendered by the Royal Society in honor of the seventieth birthday of Lazarus Goldschmidt, German refugee scholar who translated the Talmud. Dr. Goldschmidt now resides here. A joint tribute from twenty prominent non-Jewish Hebraists in Britain was also read at the reception.
