The resignation of Aron Neumann, leader of the General Zionists of Brazil, from the post of general secretary of the Central Shekel Committee–which was established here to organize the sale of shekolim on the basis of which delegates will be sent to the forthcoming World Zionist Congress–was announced here today.
Mr. Neumann resigned in protest against instructions from the Organization Department of the World Zionist Organization in Jerusalem ordering the shekel campaign in Brazil closed despite the fact that tens of thousands of more shekolim could have been sold in the eight months remaining before the World Zionist Congress will take place.
Emphasizing that his resignation is “irrevocable” Mr. Neumann charged that “illegal” methods, about which he complained to the Central Shekel Board, “prevented the majority of the Zionists in this country from using their right to become voters to the next World Zionist Congress.” He listed these methods to substantiate his charges.
