Leaders in the Philadelphia Jewish community last night announced they would devote their entire time, starting May 2, to raising $375,000, which is this city’s part of the $5,000,000 fund of the United Palestine Appeal.

Three hundred Jews promised Judge William M. Lewis, chairman of the drive, that they would lay aside their personal business until Philadelphia’s quota had been pledged.

CONFERENCE OF SOCIAL WORKERS TO BE HELD IN CLEVELAND IN MAY

The National Conference of Jewish Social Service will hold its annual sessions at Cleveland, May 23 to 26, according to an announcement from the national offices, New York City, by Samuel A. Goldsmith, secretary of the organization.

Attending will be individuals from 210 social service organizations, representing 91 cities in 36 states, and 4 organizations in Canada. Headquarters will be at the Hotel Cleveland.

Arthur Lehman, of the firm of Lehman Brothers, bankers, has been chosen a member of the Board of Directors of the Merchants’ Association of New York, to succeed W. H Walker, resigned. His term will expire in 1927.

The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America has established a fresh air fund for vacations for poor children, under strictly Orthodox supervision and kosher dietary laws.

Mrs. Bella Hermont Schnee, artist; Mayor Levin, artist, playwright and critic, and Emil Armin. artist, were elected directors of the Chicago No-Jury Artists’ Society. Armin is the only Jew who held office in that organization before and was re-elected. Mrs. Schnee, who is exhibiting some of her work at the Jewish an exhibit now being held in Chicago, and Levin are the only two new directors named by the society.

Walter A. Rosenfield, of Rock Island, III., was elected secretary of the Illinois State Republican convention at its session at Spring-field, III.
