Every prominent Polish official in England, representatives of Polish Jewish organizations in Britain, members of the diplomatic corps and a delegation from the British Labor Party gathered today to pay tribute to Dr. Herman Lieberman, first Jew to sit in a Polish Cabinet, at funeral services in the Polish Embassy.
President Raczkiewicz of Poland laid the order of the White Eagle, Poland’s highest honor, upon Liebermans coffin as he expressed Poland’s grief at the loss of “one of her greatest and most devoted sons.” At the High gate Cemetery where the burial took place Lieberman was eulogized by General Sikorski, the Polish Premier, Camille Huysmans of the Belgian Government-in-Exile, George Dallas of the British Labor party, Rudolf Bechyne, president of the Czechoslovakian state Council and the Polish Socialist leader, Mieczyslaw Mastek. The speakers stressed Lieberman’s achievements as a politician, a statesman, a lawyer and a fighter for liberty and social progress.
