Right-wing Herut Party leaders — as well as Knesset deputies representing the party — will leave for the United States early next year to negotiate with the United Jewish Appeal for fund allocations, it was learned today. Menachem Beigin, former commander of the now-dissolved Irgun Zvai Leumi, will lead the delegation.
It is understood here that if the Herut mission in the U.S., fails, the delegation — “in addition to a propaganda and political tour” — will also launch an independent fund-raising campaign for “constructive enterprises” maintained in Israel by the party, particularly rehabilitation centers for war veterans and their families.
