Leaders of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society are traveling to Moscow to investigate reports that officials at the U.S. Embassy there have been denying refugee status to Jews from the former Soviet Union at a high rate this year. The HIAS delegation plans to meet with American diplomats and with members of the Jewish community during their 10-day visit to Russia and Ukraine.
