Funeral services were held here today for Maj. Gen. Julius Ochs Adler, general manager and first vice-president of the New York Times, who died Monday at the age of 62. Later in the day, he was buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
The services this morning were held at Temple Emanu-El, with Rabbi Julius Mark, senior rabbi, officiating. Present at the funeral was an honor guard of combat veterans of the 307th Regiment of the 77th Infantry Reserve Division, which Gen. Adler commanded until his retirement last December.
Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr., United States chief delegate at the United Nations, led the honorary pallbearers as President Eisenhower’s personal representative. Among the pallbearers were civil and military leaders of the nation and associates of the General’s from the Times.
