Pro-Communist Jewish groups in Argentina, which recently announced the launching of a separate fund-raising campaign in competition to the United Israeli Campaign and the “Ayuda” — which raises funds for relief needs in Europe–were sharply criticized today in a public statement issued on behalf of the J. D. C., the World Jewish Congress, HIAS, ORT and the OSE.
At the same time the youth committee associated with the United Israeli Campaign issued a call to all young Jews in Argentina to “continue their efforts in behalf of Israel and Ayuda.” The statement was in reply to an announcement made earlier by the Federation of pro-Communist Jewish youth groups in which the latter declared it would not participate in the U. I. C. drive.
