Satisfaction with the inclusion of non-Zionist personalities as members of the Jewish Agency executive was expressed here by Samuel Daroff, president of the American Jewish League for Israel in an address at the League’s Board meeting held at the Barbizon Plaza Hotel here.
Indicating that the League has advocated the policy of de-emphasis of the party key in countries outside of Israel since its inception, Mr. Daroff predicted further gains in this direction with the conclusion of the Reorganization Commission’s recommendations on reconstructing the Zionist movement.
“Strong sentiment has been expressed by many leading voices in the North American section of the Commission favoring a single unitary Zionist organization in the United States,” Mr. Daroff stated. “Only with this approach will the Zionist movement be able to recapture its position of pre-eminence in the world Jewish community, and attract to its fold all leaders and individuals devoted to the upbuilding of Israel and the perpetuation of the Jewish way of life. Non-party Zionism is now strongly on the move and there is ever-increasing agreement in the upper echelons of Zionist leadership that non-party Zionism in the Diaspora is necessary for the unification of the Zionist movement so that it may meet head on the threats of assimilation and loss of Jewish identity.”
