The Liaison Committee of the League of Nations High Commission for German Refugees met today in the Home Office, with Prof. Norman Bentwich presiding, and considered various aspects of the refugee problem, particularly the forthcoming international conference at Evian, France.
The Council for German Jewry gave a luncheon in honor of the delegates from 26 Jewish and non-Jewish organizations interested in the refugee problem which are represented in the committee, including the Society of Friends, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the Council for German Jewry, the World Jewish Congress, the Agudath Israel, the Jewish Agency for Palestine and the refugee committees of France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Czechoslovakia.
Sir Neill Malcolm, League High Commissioner for Refugees, presided at the luncheon. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Chief-Rabbi Joseph H. Hertz and the Rev. Jarret, who represented the Archbishop of Westminster, expressed warm sympathy with the purposes of the committee. Sir Ernest Holderness, assistant secretary of the Home Office, promised utmost consideration of the difficult refugee problem.
