Sessions of the League Opposed to Anti-Semitism opened here today. The morning sitting was devoted to technical questions and the acknowledgment of greetings, especially one from the Paris municipality. Eighty-nine delegates, mostly from Paris, are in attendance.
The afternoon session heard reports from the various sections and a general debate. Bernard Le Cache, executive chairman, is the only prominent figure present. A heated debate on what language was to be used for the League’s publication, French or Yiddish, was settled in favor of French when La Cache pointed out that the League was a general organization and not a Jewish one.
The French committee elected I. Goldenberg president. At an exciting debate over Zionism, the Congress declined to vote a protest against the events in Palestine on the grounds of neutrality.
Sholom Schwartzbard, one of the guests, received a tremendous ovation. A night session is probable.
