Dr. Simon Rawidowicz, refugee scholar and former librarian of the Jewish Community in Berlin, who has recently been appointed to the newly-created chair of Hebrew at Leeds University, today stated that Leeds will become a training center for Hebrew scholars. Such a center, said Dr. Rawidowicz, will fill an important gap in Jewish education and alleviate the great shortage of teachers of Hebrew and Jewish history. The first lectures by Dr. Rawidowicz will be given in September on the subject of ancient and modern Hebrew and on Jewish history and philosophy.
