Governor Lehman has accepted membership on the committee of sponsors of the production, “Night of Stars,” which will be given at the Yankee Stadium on September 20 to raise funds for German Jewish relief, it was announced yesterday by Nathan Burkan, chairman of the amusement division of the United Jewish Appeal.
An appeal to the 7,500 members of the Allied Dental Council of New York to aid the benefit performance was issued yesterday by Theodore Blum, chairman; Mendel Nevin, treasurer, and the executive committee, who declared in a joint statement that “the cause for which this gigantic production has been arranged is the most urgent that has ever faced American Jewry.”
The women’s division of the United Jewish Appeal, headed by Mrs. Roger W. Straus, yesterday opened the midtown sale of tickets for the huge benefit performance by establishing a booth on the main floor of Gimbel’s Department Store.
