Lehman, Director of Foreign Relief and Rehabilitation Operations, is expected to discuss his activities in connection with the feeding and rehabilitation of the freed peoples of Europe, in a speech which he will deliver at a dinner in his honor at the Hotel Commodore, Sunday evening, January 31st, it was announced here today. The former New York Governor will be guest of honor at the dinner, which is being arranged by the Labor Division of the American ORT Federation, and sponsored by all trade unions of New York – both A.F. of L. and C.I.O.
In accepting the invitation to the dinner, Governor Lehman said: “It is fitting that this dinner in my honor be arranged by the Labor Division of ORT – Organization for Rehabilitation through Training – which has been doing vital rehabilitation work for the last 62 years. I have been connected with ORT for over 25 years, and I am personally familiar with the splendid work this organization has done in many of the countries of Europe. ORT has been a very effective agency in the rehabilitation of hundreds of thousands of destitute people the world over. I know that it has trained youths and adults to become skilled industrial and agricultural workers, and has thus given them an opportunity to be self-sustaining.”
