Leo M. Glassman, a member of the staff of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, returned to New York following a year’s stay in Moscow.
Mr. Glassman was the Moscow correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in Russia for that period. Previously he was associated with the editorial office of the “Jewish Daily Bulletin” in New York.
After the efforts of the American Embassy in Berlin had failed, Congressman Sol Bloom of New York succeeded in having the manager of the Kleines Theatre on the Unter den Linden remove two huge American flags which had been used to advertise a play entitled “Wet or Dry.” The play was a satire on American life and the American flags were part of a theatre-front display during its run of three months.
Mr. Bloom showed the manager his card as a member of the House Foreign Relations Committee and explained that the display of the American flag for advertising purposes would be considered insulting to the national emblem in the United States.
