The Louis Lamed Award for distinguished Jewish journalism was presented here tonight to Leo Minden, executive editor of the Jewish Floridian, an English-Jewish weekly published here. The award, a scroll, was given to Mr. Mindlin for his “outstanding presentation of the Jewish Book Month in a series of articles appearing in the Jewish Floridian which was expert in its reporting and deeply analytical of Jewish culture in the American-Jewish community today.”
Mr. Mindlin is a former member of the English Department of the University of Miami and the holder of the Alliance Francaise Award of the French Government. He is a member of the Board of the Anti-Defamation League and of the American Friends of the Hebrew University. The presentation of the award was made by Dr. Judah J. Shapiro, secretary of the National Foundation for Jewish Culture in a ceremony at the Fontainebleau Hotel here presided over by Stanley Myers, noted Jewish community leader, and attended by civic leaders and representatives of the Jewish community.
