The renowned Soviet Jewish scientist Benjamin Levich has finally received the invitation extended to him by the American Electro-Chemical Society to participate in ceremonies at which he is to be awarded the Palladium Medal, it was learned by the Greater New York Conference on Soviet Jewry. Levich attributed the change in Soviet policy to allow the invitation to reach him, to the publication of a letter from him in the New York Times on Aug. 17, 1973. The meeting is scheduled for Oct. 9 in Boston.
Levich also reported that he met with members of the Ministry of Defense last week and they again denied that anything was medically wrong with his son Evgeny. This despite Evgeny’s recent hospitalization and medical reports confirming that he is in very poor health. The Leviches expressed great fears for their son should he be forced to continue to serve in the Siberian army camp to which he was taken by force.
