Lewis L. Straus, youngest member of the firm of Knhn, Loeb & Company, may be appointed as United States Ambassador by President-elect Hoover, it was stated here following an interview between Mr. Hoover and Mr. Straus yesterday morning.
Mr. Straus was formerly secretary to Mr. Hoover in his Beligian relief work and was vice-treasurer of the Republican campaign in the East.
It was stated here that Mr. Straus has been asked to take an important post in the new administration, but this could not be confirmed. It is likely he will be named Ambassador if his business connections permit.
Mr. Straus could not be reached at his office in New York yesterday for confirmation of the report.
