A more liberal policy toward the Jewish population is expected of the Averescu government, according to Mr. Fisher, president of the Jewish National Federation in Transylvania, in an interview with the representative of the newspaper, “Ujkelet.”
Notwithstanding the fact that the government has issued no declaration on its attitude, toward the Jewish population, it is believed that its policy will be liberal, Mr. Fisher stated, recalling that Prime Minister Averescu’s party joined in the protest sent to the senate by Roumanian Jews against the school law introduced by former Education Minister Angelescu.
The new Education Minister, N. Negulescu congratulated the conference of the Jewish National Federation, expressing his full sympathy with the Jewish National idea.
