As the United Nations enter the fifth year of the war, the defeat of the Axis powers and the liberation of the oppressed peoples, including millions of Jews, looms on the horizon, Prime Minister John Curtin stated today in a message issued to the Jewish community on the occasion of Rosh Hashonah.
“When I penned a message to the Jewish community a year ago, the cause of the United Nations had experienced three years of setbacks as a result of which many peoples were enslaved and among them many of the Jewish faith,” the Prime Minister’s message states. “Now the United Nations are entering the fifth year of the war with victory in sight. Our cause goes forward and the liberation of the oppressed people is near. To all of you I say: Face the future with confidence and determination.”
